Mardi Gras!

I cannot believe Mardi Gras is upon us again! Memories of last year’s festivities are still fresh; it was especially unique in that it was my husband’s first Mardi Gras. The weeks of parades, catching beads and trinkets (all in good clean fun, unless you’re on Bourbon Street of course), the crazy and colorful costumes of parade watchers and parade floaters alike, the ladder seats that parents build for their children to sit on, the festive music played by local school bands, the various dance troupes, the obscene amounts of king cake, and of course the quality time with great friends and colleagues — these all amount to most likely the funnest party of the year.

Being on the CCU service for the past four weeks has hindered my parade-attending capabilities, but we did enjoy Krewe du Vieux which came a bit early this year to kick off the Mardi Gras season. Clinics and offices are closed for Lundi and Mardi Gras, so a four-day weekend is in stow! With college friends coming into town, we are excited for a weekend of parades and good cheer. I just hope my light-up rainbow tutu arrives in time!!!
